Finding Faith

“Where to Now?” – BGC, 03 May 2017

i remember
the glow
on your
face
the sparkle
in your
eyes
as we
spoke
of faraway
places
and adventures
everywhere
those nights
in early
summer
filled with
song
so unaware
of the
darkness
of the
anger
to come.

you’ve
trekked your
paths
climbed your
mountains;
but let
me ask:
have you
found
what you
lost
have you
found
what you
sought
or does
your life
remain
empty and
barren and
broken?

and i
who stayed
behind
am out
and about
on journeys
of my
own:
and i
fly
and i
walk
and i
ride
through the
world
asking questions
giving answers
gaining knowledge
giving back
finding meaning
in things
in people
in places
you scoffed
at
as mundane
as plain
as common.

but:
unlike you
i’ve found
my meaning
i’ve found
my faith
yet still
i pray
you would
someday
somehow
find yours.

Parting Ways

“Minis in Line” – Muntinlupa, 03 June 2017

“drive my
car,”
the song
goes:
take me
for a
ride
take me
away
before fame
before fortune
transforms
you into
a monster.

but
the words
come
a little
too late
as your
dreams
have made
you
less a
man
more a
creature
of vice
of viciousness
of ambition
vile
chasing your
fancies
on the
road
to disaster.

and one
thinks
of smoky
rooms
reeking of
drink
and songs
forlorn
and broken
sung to
indifferent crowds;
not quite
how
one thought
you’d set
the world
ablaze.

but i
keep my
own counsel
for you
would heed
would hear
me not
and i
will drive
away
from the
charred embers
of the
bridge
you chose
to burn
and leave
you
to the
doom
you wanted.
