“Consider Flight” – Pasay, 07 April 2017

speak not
to me
of freedom:
i do
not think
you know
what it
means.

you speak
of open
roads
and friendly
skies;
of adventure
and culture
and experiences
money
can’t buy
and you
speak ill
of the
life
i chose
of my
daily enslavement
to the
norm,
this workaday
existence
you scorn.

yet:
i am
no slave
to vices
i pledge
no allegiance
to trends
i give
back
what i
can
and refuse
to be
burden
to anyone
and i
am free
to be
me.

chained
to no
image,
fettered
to no
reputation;
free
to be
myself –
and you
who chose
to hide
behind
an elaborate
faรงade
have no
right
to say
otherwise.
