“Girl with Dulcimer” – Makati, 25 February 2017

maiden
of the
golden court
playing her
dulcimer
in the
king’s gardens:
the breeze
blowing through
carrying the
scent
of white
jasmine
even as
her song
makes its
way
to the
ears
to the
hearts
of those
caught
in the
music.

and a
prince
of the
high house
hears the
tune
sprightly and
sweet
to his
ear…

but the
maiden
pays him
no heed
enraptured
though he
is
by her
song.

and a
breeze
blows through
and the
blossoms
are shaken
and change
fills the
air.
