“Storm Overhead” – Paranaque, 23 December 2016

what
kind of
world
is this
where we
wake up
to news
so dismal
that we
are thrown
willy-nilly
into chaos?

our heroes
die
under cloak
of shadow,
our princesses
taken away
in the
night;
callous buffoons
are raised
to thrones
and children
slaughtered
in the
streets.

and i
scream
at the
gathering storm
overhead
to demand
answers
but the
sky
remains silent
and the
clouds
gather on
and the
rain falls
and the
wind howls
and only
then
do i
realise
even the
heavens
mourn the
grim dealings
of cruel
and inexorable
fate.
