“Undecipherable” – Makati, 15 November 2016

deciphering
the glyphs
the words
that poisoned
my brain
my heart;
scathing screed
dripping with
vitriol
and a
violence
and an
anger
that nearly –
so nearly –
drove me
to death
blaming myself
as i
did
for everything.

i who
have made
it my
business
vocation
raison d’etre;
i who
live
and breathe
and thrive
among words –
i am
flummoxed
at words
used as
weapons
‘gainst gentle
emotions
versus tender
passions.

so:
i turn
away
from you
from your
words
your very
presence
much bothered
much bewildered
at your
language
of pride –
false
foolish
vicious
self-serving
self-destructive –
and learn
one way
or another
to forgive…
but never
forget.
