Almost Iconic

“I’m an instant star. Just add water and stir.”- David Bowie

i’d like
to see
you
dressed up
in cavalli
in ford
dolce e
gabbana;
just to
be able
to smile
and think
how much
you remind
me –
and others –
of bowie
in his
youth.

and i
miss
how you
ape lennon
but write
songs
like mccartney –
that dark
melancholy
playful sweetness
in your
lyrics
in your
melodies –
how the
duality
of genius
works in
you.

but i
keep my
distance
even now;
i have
other things
responsibilities
keeping my
head
keeping my
hands
so busy…

but:
never think
i don’t
think
about you.
