“Play Me a Song, Mr. Piano Man” – Makati, 26 August 2016

whiling away
the idle
hours
among these
books
as the
ivory keys
sing
old songs
and the
rain
comes crashing
comes splashing
down:
grey melancholy
forgotten
for a
moment.

and there
are lessons
learned
over tea:
tales told
of resilience
of strength
of facing
of surviving
odds
too unfathomable;
and there
are discoveries
made
in discussion:
finding what
we seek
in words
spoken
by kindred
spirits,
precious pearls
practical wisdom
of the
magic
sleeping within.

and i
come away
go away
changed
bemused
bewitched
challenged
to transform
myself.
