“In the Park” – Makati, 06 August 2016

you
once told
me
of the
beauty
you see
in darkness;
one such
conversation
where i
felt a
pang
in my
heart
when you
spoke
so flippantly
of death
and how
i thought
you
saw it
as a
joke,
jesting
lightly
lightheartedly –
as if
it were
nothing
to you.

and yet
when you
grieve
the pain
lingers;
i hear
it in
your voice
when you
speak
sing
sigh –
and yes,
even your
laughter
sounds forced
sounds pained;
overkill
to the
nth degree.

and i
wonder
what can
i do;
what do
i do
with you
when –
truth be
told –
you won’t
let anyone
in.
