To Guiding Lights

“La Luna” (from “The Moon and the Stars” – Alphonse Mucha, 1902

stars
in the
darkest night
shine your
brightest
and illuminate
the gloom;
glow
and guide
the one
who roams
paths unknown,
unseen,
not taken.

shine forth
and inspire
the song
in his
heart
and let
him
sing his
tune
to a
world
so broken
from discord
this brutal
lack
of harmony.

and when
journey
upon unending
journey
finally draws
to a
halt,
glow your
brightest
and lead
him home.

Author’s Note:  To Guiding Lights will also appear as part of my upcoming novel Live from the Cafe Anacardi which officially drops in Q1 – 2017.
