Papa Said…

“The Old Underwood” – Pandacan, 17 July 2016

‘sit at

your keyboard

and bleed,’

hemingway

told me,

drunken diatribe

roared

through time

through space.
bring forth

your verses,

give birth

to prose:

write

your tale

In blood,

break the

amnion

enclosing the

words,

precious and

ephemeral and

binding.
pour out

libations

even as

you spill

your life

onto the

dry

upon the

barren page

and drink

to the

health

to the

memory

of the

authors

who came

who dared

who dreamed

who bled

long before

our own

tales began.
