“Single, Solitary” – Makati, 09 June 2016

sometimes:
i wonder
why i
bother
why i
care
why i
love
when all
i get
in return
is grief
is pain
is spite.

but
i do
i still
though i
know
too well
my efforts
are doomed
my persistence
futile.

i fight
i care
i go
half-mad
with despair
and others
mock my
folly
jeer at
my dogged
affection.

but i
feel
what i
feel –
no one
truly
no one
can deny
that;
and what
i feel
in reckless
futility
is real.
