“Cappuccino” – Makati, 20 May 2016

sipping
my coffee:
quiet hour
alone.

and i
remember
an afternoon
in late
summer,
two of
us
sipping coffee
and talking.

and i
wondered
about the
futility
of life,
and you
spoke
about how
brave
i had
to be
and how
brave
you were
to strike
whilst the
irons
were hot –
and how
if things
went south
we could
always
go home.

and in
solitude
i weep
into my
coffee
and miss
the words
the company
the comfort;
i miss
you.
