“Caffeinated” – Makati, 11 May 2016

pour yourself
a cup
and sit
by my
side;
and i’ll
close my
eyes
and breathe
deep,
taking in
the scent
of tobacco
of wine
on your
skin.

pour me
a cup
and let’s
talk:
settle scores
clear the
air
tell the
truth
concede we’re
right
admit we’re
wrong;
apologise
and be
apologised to.

and i
lightly
press my
lips
to your
cheek
for the
barest
fraction of
a second
wondering
for a
moment
what an
eternity
with you
(without you)
would be
like.
