“Desktop” – Makati, 11 April 2016

clock
striking four
and the
ennui
lies heavy:
mind at
a standstill;
hands limp
motionless –
static –
unsure as
to what
to write.

semi-caffeinated
sugar break
trying to
fuel
flagging neurons
into action;
but all
in vain.

rail at
the source,
scream at
the screen,
cuss out
the page
that stays
blank
that stays
empty;
like an
artist
frustrated with
blank canvases,
like a
composer
whose tune
has faded
to a
dead end.

don’t push
too hard,
don’t drive
too fast;
give it
time,
give it
space;
let the
seed
in your
head
put down
roots
and grow
and bloom
at the
proper time
at the
right season
and all
will go
well.
