“The Night Flight” – Cebu, 13 April 2016

“We are a way for the universe to know itself. Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return. And we can, because the cosmos is also within us. We’re made of star stuff.”

– Carl Sagan

the stars
in the
sky
flicker in
the summer
night;
the lights
on the
ground
shimmer back
in kind.

and i
wonder
as i
soar
into the
clouds
how each
star
was once
a heart
a soul
a life
nurtured
raised
tended
on the
earth.

and each
life
shines on
despite the
darkness
that comes
that looms
that dares
to claim
us all
in the
end.

and each
heart
beats on
twinkling
sparkling
glittering
on the
velvet night,
guiding the
lost,
inspiring the
poets,
awakening the
artist
that sleeps
within.

gone,
but never
forgotten;
one day –
someday –
we will
all
shine there
up in
the sky
together
once more.
