“Citrus / Chrysalis” – Muntinlupa, 05 April 2016

bittersweet tang
of summer
on my
tongue,
puckering my
lips,
lingering
like a
romance
gone south
gone sour.

bite
by bite,
juice spilling
onto bare
skin,
licked off –
tasting salt;
reminded of
tears
shed in
anger
shed in
sorrow
bitterly sweet
sorrow.

but a
sweetness –
faint
ephemeral
nigh on
ethereal –
makes its
presence
felt and
found:
life lesson
made edible
made visible
made tangible.

even with
bitter days
sour moods
spicy tempers
a sweetness
remains
to speak
to prophesy
to assure
of better
times
to come.
