“Seen on a Placemat” – BGC, 18 February 2016

nothing
seems to
make sense
right now.

words are:
skewed and
misconstrued,
heard but
unheard,
truths and
lies
interwoven
intertwined
and in
anger
and in
grief
and in
brokenness,
we choose
only to
air our
own thoughts
hear our
own words
or bank
on hearsay.

now
there is
a silence
a shadow
a strain
between friends.

you blame
me ;
i blamed
myself –
till i
remembered
you had
your part
to play,
too.

someday –
perhaps –
we’ll talk
we’ll laugh
we’ll tease
again;
for now,
i keep
my distance
to think
to mend
to heal.
