“Stop at the Corner” – BGC, 23 February 2016

water under

the bridge:

things have

changed,

time’s moved

on,

and paths

have split

have run

converged again.

and i

stand here

at the

rising:

mind askance

heart aflutter

thinking

of everything

of everywhere

people

places

possibilities

problems –

all drifting

away.

and i

think

of you

the words

you said:

hurtful but

honest,

brutal but

beneficial,

self-serving

yet strangely

selfless

considering it’s

you.

and i

stand here

whispering

murmuring

sighing

a prayer

and wondering

what i

did

in our

youth

to deserve

you

at your

best

at your

worst;

how liking

grew up

into loving

flaws and

quirks and

darker sides

and all.

nothing

has stayed

the same,

nothing

has stayed

in place;

but i

wish

it were

your hand

in mine

the next

time

the earth

shifts

the world

turns

and time

marches on.
