Fire Up the Stage (Dragonfly Collector and Nitoy Adriano) – Makati, 17 February 2016

the air

crackles

around me,

the crowd

electrified

spellbound

caught up

in the

intensity,

driven into

another plane

of consciousness

by a

song.

one voice

raised

over and

above

the hum

of mundane

conversation,

cutting through

the raucous

shouts,

the coarse

laughter

of barflies

and party

girls;

pied piper

calling

us out

to play

to stay

carouse

and abandon

our sad

ordinary

workaday lives

as we

revel

rebel

rally to

his song.

  1. This poem appears to have lots of action despite the usual connotation of sitting quietly in a corner while sipping martini and relishing every note of each song. The imagery seems to be panoramic of everything about what makes an avid concert-goer enamoured at music, how his/her soul is exhilarated by audial harmony.
