“An Asian Winter” – Makati, 06 February 2016

grey sky

mirrored in

the winding

river;

the breeze

is cold,

the rain

frosty

like tiny

arrow points

of ice

piercing into

skin.

the cold

seeps into

the marrow

of my

bones

and i

am weary

of the

world

of its

two-faced

lying

of its

mockery

of the

cruelty

it throws

at the

innocent

at the

unwary.

torn between

throwing

myself into

the depths

or sailing

its surface

into the

great unknown;

either way,

escape

would be

sweet.
