Venom to the Heart

“Bare Bones” – BGC, 26 October 2015

life

laid bare:

secrets told,

nothing

nowhere

to hide;

confessions made

to ears

unsympathetic.

and the

loneliness

cuts deep;

it stings

it burns

like a

venomous

bite into

bare flesh.

yet:

there is

an honesty

a purity

in this

unveiled

solitude;

intentions sincere

but unnoticed,

tenderness given

but ignored

a love

freely bestowed

but callously

thrown away.

wash the

pain

away with

tears;

begin again

begin anew

without shame

without remorse

without question –

for you

bore no

malice

meant no

harm.

let the

gods

judge those

who mocked

who declined

who decried

the honesty

of your

heart.
