Under Falling Stars

“The Truth About Comets” – Dorothea Tanning, 1945

let’s watch

the stars

fall

from the

sky

as we

sit here

sipping wine

sharing secrets

stealing kisses.

all

grown up,

all

changed up

from the

children

we were;

but there

remains

a playfulness

in you,

a naïveté

in me

that neither

time

nor grief

nor the

hundreds

and thousands

of cares

of life

have taken

away.

and i

wonder

about twin

stars

falling to

earth,

of twin

flames

bursting with

light;

then i

steal a

glance

at you

and wonder

no more.
