Look up here, I’m in heaven

I’ve got scars that can’t be seen

I’ve got drama, can’t be stolen

Everybody knows me now

From Lazarus, the final single released by David Bowie (1947-2016)

it has

come

to this:

goblin king

sleeps

the slumber

of the

just,

having danced

with the

last partner;

having sung

his last

song.

the dreams

of childhood

are ended,

another

chapter shut

in the

book

of tales;

and the

maiden

decries him,

defies him,

denies him claiming

he has

no power

over her.

but memories

linger

and songs

play on

even when

death

claims the

singer

and time

spins

cobwebs of

forgetfulness

in the

mind.

and even

the most

defiant

will mourn

the passing

of the

beautiful

of the

brilliant;

his power

his magic

his music

live on.

the goblin

king

is dead;

but

long live

the king.
