Through the Dark

“Flickering” – Muntinlupa, 17 October 2015

consider the

light

in the

midst

of the

darkness,

how it

shines

through the

void;

small beacon

showing the

way.

consider the

faint shimmer

of hope

in the

heart

of one

lost

in the

shadows

of loneliness

of grief

of so

many –

too many –

heartaches

felt in

the course

of a

lifetime:

tiny pinpoint

of light

weakly

blinking to

call for

help

lest the

heart

burns out

forever.

consider the

ones

who give

so much

of their

light

that others

might thrive:

consider how

the world

demands

so much –

too much,

far

too much –

of them,

but jeers

and mocks

and taunts

them

when they

burn out

and fall

apart.

so cruel,

so pitiless,

so ungrateful:

may the

world

be cursed

until

it learns

to give

credit

to those

to whom

it is

due.
