“Shine,” He Said

“Chandelier” – Pasay, 03 October 2015

“shine,”

you tell

me;

“sparkle

like an

electric star.”

and i –

weary in

mind,

troubled at

heart,

body in

pain –

stare at

you

in disbelief,

wondering

at this

madness

you say.

but

you beg,

you plead,

you bully

me

into seeing

truth:

that even

now

some strength

must flow;

that even

now

a spark

remains

to set

this world

on fire.

and you

cajole

none too

gently;

having seen

what i

can do,

not giving

up,

never giving

in,

not allowing

this forlorn

soul to

give up.

and verses

are born

white pages

overwritten

and i

sit here

in shock:

unprepared

for this

magic

you coaxed

out of

my hands.
