“Stay Occupied” – Muntinlupa, 01 October 2015

writing

a postcard

and verses

as i

lay here;

face flushed

pink

with fever;

bright scent

of bergamot

soothing

my heavy

head.

no lines

to speak,

no words

to utter:

my throat

all aflame

with pain,

lips parched;

cracking.

and i

question

my acts:

decisions made,

days lived

out

in ennui

in toil

till my

body

falls apart

soul wearies

mind shatters.

and i

know not

how much

more

i can

take

before i

wither

fade

disappear entirely.

and i

dread asking:

will i

be there –

safe

sane

sound

whole –

when you

return…

or will

i

be but

a memory?
