La Tempesta

“Though the Floods May Rise” – Muntinlupa, 29 August 2015

you can’t

see the

horizon

through the

silvery

sheets of

rain

draping over

the city.

enshrouded

in grey

like a

mourning mother

weeping

for her

children

lost to

strife

war

greed

ambition

hate.

you feel

the cold

seeping

through your

flesh

cutting into

bone,

like a

vise

choking off

blood and

breath and

life;

and you

are powerless

to stop

it.

burdened

though i

am,

gleefully do

i welcome

the tempest

joyfully do

i greet

the storm.

and i

dance

like a

slave

set free

in the

downpour,

wading through

flooded streets

like a

girl of

thirteen.

this is

my season

my weather

my nature

my time.
