“Portrait of a Heart” – Christian Schloe, 2013

you

set my

heart

on fire

with the

words

that you

weave

into song.

each tune

playing

plucking

preying

on my

heartstrings

like tiny

cupids

aiming at

a single

target,

arrows piercing

on impact.

and i

wonder

how i

can retaliate;

how can

i

fight fire

with fire?

for while

i can

play with

words

the same

as you,

there is

no way

i can

meet

the music

head on…

and i

weakly

meekly

cheekily

concede defeat.
