Le Monde est Votre Huître

"Les Huîtres" - Edouard Manet, 1862
“Les Huîtres” – Edouard Manet, 1862

i was

never

the normal

one:

always on

the outside

looking in

not allowed

to partake

of childhood

joys

unless i

sacrificed

my self

my joie

de vivre

to be

another

faceless

drone in

the crowd.

it hurt

it stung;

rejection

always does.

but now

i still

march

to the

beat

of a

different

drummer

and know

that others

do so

all the

time.

the world,

says the

minstrel,

is your

oyster:

so take

it

run with

it

make the

most

of it;

glory in

what makes

you

stand out

unique

nonpareil

and the

world

is yours,

is ripe

for the

taking.
