“A Bite of Cake for One” – BGC, 02 September 2015

a bite

of bread

of cake

sustaining

one whose

mind /

burns with

creativity

searing page

after page

with words

born of

zeal:

tales told

sagas sung

epics woven

out of

the fibers

the threads

spun by

imagination.

and this

process

fueled by

copious cups

of tea

of coffee

a glass

of wine

or two

ale

imbibed with

recklessness

to spill

out

ideas given

form

function

purpose.

in memory

of meals

eschewed

in the

name

of feeding

the mind:

a libation

poured

and these

cakes

offered up;

meat

for idols

tangible and

ephemeral.

and the

scribe

just sups

at the

altar

of the

muses,

words and

notions

serving and

served

as the

artist’s

meat and

drink.
