“An Aromatic Awakening” – Muntinlupa, 16 August 2015

lost in

a wisp

of smoke

scent of

sandalwood

wafting through

the room;

trying to

make sense

out of

commonplace

things.

not for

me

this tedium:

temper-souring

head-hurting

mind-numbing

heartbreaking

soul-killing

boredom;

call this

a life?!

in the

distance,

the old

songs

play again

calling up

memories

of bygone

days

of schoolgirl

frolics

of foibles

of fantasies

once harboured,

once planned.

but no

castles

in the

sky

have i:

hopes dashed

dreams trampled

underfoot

by the

narrowness

of human

minds

the hardness

of mortal

hearts.

inwardly:

i rage

i rebel;

and the

sandalwood

opens my

mind

to what

will be

will come

and i

break away

from the

ordinary;

set the

world

like incense

on fire.
