“Clementine and Ginger” – Muntinlupa, 16 August 2015

a little

spice,

an aromatic

hint –

and everything

changes;

a word

of hope,

a touch

of kindness –

and everything

changes.

golden orb

in hand

smelling

of summer

and orchards

and places

where the

sun

always shines;

juice

dripping down

my chin

sharp but

honeyed

like barbed

conversations

ending in

fonder words.

gnarled root:

pungent

medicinal

transporting my

mind

to a

souk

far away

from everything

from everyone

familiar;

soothing these

agitated nerves

into some

semblance

of calm.

infusing

libations for

the harried;

drenching

parched throats

(dried hearts)

with a promise,

a whisper

of changes

to come;

spice

of life,

a renewed

zest.
