Wishful Thinking

“The Country Cottage” – Batangas, 2012

someday

i’ll live

in a

cottage

near the

sea;

and i

will breathe

the cool

the salty

breezes

night and

day

and hear

the call

of the

gulls

soaring overhead.

and i

will cut

blossoms

wild and

vivid and

fragrant

to grace

my humble

home

and my

gates

will be

wreathed

in flowering

vines.

and my

table

will be

set:

fruit off

my trees,

bread made

by my

own hand;

simple fare,

nourishing

body and

soul.

and someday –

maybe –

someone will

share

this cottage,

this peace,

this joy

with me.
