“An Ominous Sunset” – BGC, 05 August 2015

the storm

gathers

around

the islands’

edges;

yet the

sky

at sunset

is fair:

rose-gold

tinting

the horizon,

clouds

like puffs

of sweet

fairy floss.

but there

is a

worrying

stillness in

the air;

frisson

of danger

just beneath

the surface

and one

remembers

a tempest

passing into

legend

some years

back:

and a

shiver

runs down

my spine

despite the

warmth

and i

dread

the worst.

that this

is but

a lull

before the

storm

comes roaring

comes raging

in,

leaving death

and devastation

in its

wake.
