The Cusp of Evening

"City in Blue" - Makati, 11 July 2015
“City in Blue” – Makati, 11 July 2015

night falls

upon the

city;

streetlights

flickering to

life

one after

another

till the

earth

mirrors the

sky:

little lights,

jewels against

the black

cloak

of night.

the cacophony

of these

streets,

dissonant

staccato

rapid fire

beats

of a

pulse;

the city

is an

elegant behemoth

awake

alive

nothing ever

stays still

even in

the stillness

of twilight,

the overwhelming

silence

of midnight.

its denizens

rush to

and fro:

dodging traffic,

catching rides

carrying on

even as

the rest

of the

world

curls into

slumber.

for cities

such as

this

never sleep.
