“Turn the Pages Yet Again” – Muntinlupa, 28 July 2015

came away

early

pleading another

commitment,

an errand

to run;

true

for a

certain

value of

true –

but the

discomfort

of an

awkwardness

between us

cast a

pall

over my

evening.

and i

came away

escaping

into the

pages

of books

with stories

mirroring

my own

only with

happier scenes

pleasant fancies

happy endings.

and i,

for once,

found no

pleasure

this night:

partly due

to the

boisterous

madding crowd,

but more

of this

silence

this shade

i cast

your way.

so farewell,

for now:

let mind

and heart

and body

rest a

spell

before i

dive back

into the

fray,

back to

you.
