Stand Out

“Among the Pinks” – Manila, 2010

i

hide away

in plain

sight:

a rare

bloom

amidst the

commonplace

flowers

of summer.

i bide

my time

patiently

silently

albeit somewhat

wistfully

for the

proper

season

in which

to blossom:

unfurl my

talents

like radiant

petals

show stopping

magnificence

in full

play;

unleash my

magic

catch the

world

off guard –

let them

gawk

let them

gasp

let them

marvel!

for what

many

considered a

worthless

weed,

what many

saw

as ugly

as pitiful

as insignificant

rises above

the daisy

the mum

the cheap

little posies

to shine

to seduce

unwary eyes

and more

unsuspecting

fascinated

minds;

taking

it all –

you all –

by storm.

the rarest

blooms

are the

ones

not easily

cultivated

and even

less easily

gathered.
