The Things We Say at Five A.M.

“At the Corner” – BGC, 06 July 2015

i remember

a conversation

in the

wee smalls:

short on

sleep,

craving coffee;

seeking solace

in shared

memories

as the

cab

hurtled through

empty streets

at five

when the

world

around us

was just

beginning

to stir.

two souls

lost,

two minds

wondering –

wandering –

about life

in general:

how we

got here,

where we

came from,

what happened

in the

decade

and more

that spanned

then and

now.

and we

ended up

with more

questions

than answers

a totally

unexpected

end result

just as

we sought

closure,

meaning;

the closing

of a

door.

but i’ve

no regrets

as to

what i

said

that morning

at five;

neither,

my dearest,

should you.
