A Letter Hidden in Plain Sight

"The Things We Say at Five AM" (manuscript detail) - 22 June 2015
“The Things We Say at Five AM” (manuscript detail) – 22 June 2015

there is

a letter

hidden

within a

story:

words

i dread

saying;

trite expressions

of tawdry

emotions,

forlorn verses

born of

pain,

an inescapable

darkness,

a palpable

loneliness;

a welter

of unshed

tears

bubbling

welling

behind a

stoic façade.

love letter

unsent,

hastily scribbled;

notepaper

scrawled over;

childish trifle –

but the

words

are sincere,

are tender,

are sweet,

are true,

are mine…

for you.

but you’ll

never

get to

read them:

you won’t

know

where to

look…

only i

know,

only i

do.
