Musings on a Morning Drive

"Morning Sky" - Taguig, 25 June 2015
“Morning Sky” – Taguig, 25 June 2015

curled up

in the

backseat;

an old

song

by lennon

playing through

the airwaves

as i

look up

and think

of things

past and

present,

of words

said

of words

regretted

of words

cherished

and remembered

and learned

from.

and i

look back

at the

children

we were

and wonder

if things

had been

different

would we

have parted

ways?

would we

have stayed

friends,

would we

have fought

like cats –

hissing

growling

lunging

scratching –

forever at

odds

with each

other?

lennon

goes into

chorus

just as

the sky

shifts

from blue

to silver

and i

say a

prayer

for you

to stay

safe,

strong,

wise.

it’s the

least

i can

do

for you

for now.

and the

song

ends

and i

step out

of the

car

and start

my day

with you

in mind

at heart.
