Stand With Me at Sunset

“Sunset at San Guillermo” – Bacolor, Pampanga; 2013

hold my

hand,

watch the

sunset

with me;

let me

rest my

head

on your

shoulder

as the

day

fades into

night.

let’s not

talk

and just

enjoy

this tender

silence

and

each other’s

company.

no need

for promises

we fear

to keep;

no need

to bind

ourselves

into rash

agreements;

no need,

not yet –

not just

yet.

but we

stand

together as

the sun

sets,

the light

dims;

in sacred

silence

holding hands:

not quite

here,

not quite

there;

but maybe –

just maybe –

there could

be a

life

and a

love

quietly biding

time,

waiting to

grow,

waiting to

blossom

between us.
