Tonight, Tonight

“The Fountain in the Corner” – Makati, 2010

tonight

i don’t

want to

think:

the pain

is too

much;

too many

ideas

swirling through

my head,

too many

griefs

squeezing me,

choking me;

unable to

breathe,

feeling like

i’m falling

apart.

steps falter,

speech fails;

a disturbing

exhaustion

wrapped around

me,

threatening to

crush me

in its

arms,

grinding me

to nothingness.

tonight

i don’t

want to

think;

i only

wish

to lie

still

only the

sound

of running

water

whispering in

my ears

lulling me

into tranquil

sleep

washing the

cares

away.
