Thunderstorm Thursday

"Downpour" - BGC, 07 May 2015
“Downpour” – BGC, 07 May 2015

the rain

pours down:

heavy sheets

crashing

splashing

drenching

this parched

city.

i smile up

at the

grey skies

comforted

body and soul

heart and mind;

scorching temper

cooled

by the

torrential

downpour.

the air

smells clean

and fresh

and new;

the dusty

aridity

of summer

dispelled

by running

water.

i scamper

across the

streets –

a child

of six

once more –

rampaging

through the

puddles

again

marching home

splashing with

heedless

gleeful

abandon

umbrella twirling

over me.

the rain

will fall,

the storm

will rage

and i

will run

will sing

will play

happily.
