The Letters, The Company We Keep

“Sentiments Under Glass” – Paranaque, 10 May 2015

there is

something

to be

said about

letters kept

those faded

missives

written by

hand –

eager

in some,

hesitant

in others.

some are

stilted:

words are

shaky

both in

appearance

and in

tone;

some are

bold –

too much

at times –

screaming confidence

with every

crossed t

dotted i;

the hand

strong,

the penmanship

florid.

elegant notes

every word

couched

politely (primly) –

hypocritical

at second

glance;

rude scribbles

boorish-seeming

yet refreshingly

honest

admirably frank:

contrasts are

sharply

defined

by status

by focus

by kind.

keep a few,

toss a few

and remember:

words do

not

come cheap;

each

has its

price

each

holds a

treasure.

it is

up to

the reader

to mark

the value

within.
