Words From an Old Song

“Phonograph” – Pandacan, 10 May 2015

heard the

words

from an

old familiar

song

and thought

of long ago

schooldays

spent

gathered ’round

the radio

waiting for

that tune

to play.

schoolgirls

giggling

in fits

giddy with

youth

little-girl

crushes

blossoming

into more

intense

yearnings.

heard the

words

of an

old familiar

song

and i

look out

my window

wondering

pondering

sighing

over what

might have

been

could have

been

and weep.
