Distant Shores

“Guimaras from Afar” – Iloilo, July 2012

sometimes

all i want

to do

is sail away

is fly away

is move away

from where

i am.

to

get away

hide away

walk away

from the

past

and all

its back-breaking

burdens,

and all

its soul-crushing

sorrows.

stare out

into the

horizon,

at islets

at far lands

at shores

distant and

waiting…

and wonder

and plot

and plan…

for something

new

for something

grand.

here’s to

great escapes

pastures new

lives begun

elsewhere

somewhere

far away

from here.
