when i

look back

backtrack

replay

rewind

everything i

ever said

ever wrote

there is a

twinge

a bare

frisson

of regret.

childish passions

given voice:

backbiting

backfighting

stab before

anyone

can strike…

and lose

it all

one fell

instant.

and apologies

mean nothing

to

hearts broken

egos bruised

dignity torn

tattered

beyond recognition.

farewells

are never

final;

hate mellows

passion cools

and all

we can

do

is pick up

whatever pieces

we find

and begin

again…

there is

always

another story

to tell.
