i’d be careful

if i were you:

things are

never

what they

seem;

innocent things

too often hide

secrets deep,

secrets dark,

secrets insidious –

too wicked,

too vicious

to be spoken of

openly.

a gentle smile

hides barbed wit;

veiled eyes

conceal a keen,

an observant

gaze.

never play

with gentle

hearts:

even doves

will screech,

will peck,

will scratch

when harmed.

never toy

with emotions

sincere:

nothing,

no one

is as tame

as they

seem.

even a pet

attacks

when provoked.

old saws

apply:

beware the

fury

of any

woman

scorned.

there may not

be enough

left of you

to commit

to the earth.

consider yourself

warned.
