“Red String of Fate” – Mui-Ling Teh, date unknown

clouds on the horizon;

your song

in my ears.

i remember

long-ago days:

a small office,

girls in white,

storm threatening

outside;

winds cold.

i remember

you singing,

strumming,

scribbling lines,

speaking verse,

sketching thorns

onto a

single rose.

i lost

my heart

that day;

you wouldn’t

take it.

a score

of years

alone…

who was i –

who am i –

to know:

our paths

would cross,

that i –

unwittingly –

would concoct

a plan

to find you?

where to

now?

another squall

lies in wait

outside…

and i’m tired

of squalls,

tired of

waiting.

how soon

for me,

for you

is now?
